From September 5–13, 2024, ministerial families from the Egypt-Sudan Field joined a revival and discipleship retreat in Northern Egypt, led by Pastor Don MacLafferty. The event focused on deepening their relationship with Jesus through prayer, Bible activities, and family involvement. Participants were encouraged to live out daily discipleship, starting at home, and to lead others in faith growth.
From September 5-13, 2024, Egypt-Sudan Field pastors, spouses and children joined office workers and their families for a week of Revival, and Discipleship training in Northern Egypt. Led by pastor Don MacLafferty, experienced trainer and Revival leader, the group was invited into a deeper experience with Jesus, as His followers and servants. The meetings involved seasons of personal prayer, group activities, and family time, away from the busyness and noise of city life.
The activities were tailored to engage not only the adults but the whole family. Children were invited to read from God's Word, answer thoughtful questions and lead the adults in finding Bible "locations", while reliving great stories of faith.
Discipleship as a lifestyle
Pastor MacLafferty challenged the participants to live under seven principles of Discipleship, ranging from full commitment to Jesus, to serving our own families well, and daily sharing with someone our walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. Just as Abraham was called by God to worship Him wherever he went, teaching his household to follow the only true God, so we are called to lead loved ones at the altar of worship every day, in our homes, and honor Him before strangers and friends alike.
“We leave this retreat refreshed and challenged at the same time,” says pastor Sebastian Godoy, Field Secretary for Sudan. “To live daily as true disciples and disciplers is Jesus’ invitation to all believers.”
