Life felt like an answered prayer. An intimate relationship with God, a vibrant and wholesome community where you belong, a delight in ministry, a fulfilling career and a promising life companion. Everything was sailing smoothly, until November 5th, 2025, my faith was shattered to the core.
In a beautiful morning, the sun rays penetrated through my windows filling the room with peace and refreshing silence. Suddenly, I heard a heavy bang and a loud rant on my apartment’s door that cut through the quiet. I was terrified. "For a moment, I thought the world was going to end, I paused, then I opened the door.”
To my surprise, it was the authorities, they stormed in, determined and zealous, wearing facial expressions that carried the message: "We owe you no explanations." They searched my apartment, checked my passport, student ID and cellphone.
"They were on a manhunt, a murder suspect who had previously lived in my apartment. When they realized my credentials didn't match the culprit, they left. "
"Silence crept back in, different this time, unrefreshing and unsettling." I knelt and prayed”.
" Weeks passed and though I tried to console myself, the incident had crushed my spirit. My anxiety spiked, leaving me confused, isolated and ruminating."
I could’ve been detained for questioning and investigation but God sent help. The landlady was right there on time, she confirmed to them that I was not the person they were looking for. Isaiah 43:2, When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. God doesn't promise to remove the waters/fire, but to be in it with you. That presence is what keeps faith from sinking.
"What once felt like an unpleasant moment became a refining one. Adversity did not destroy me, it sharpened me; and in that sharpening, I discovered that faith is strongest when tested."
