We all have plans for our lives. We imagine how our future will look, set goals, and hope that things will work out the way we expect. But sometimes, life takes a different direction. Opportunities disappear, prayers seem unanswered, and doors we hoped would open remain closed. In those moments, it can be difficult to understand why things are happening differently from what we expected.
When our plans fall apart, we may begin to question ourselves or wonder whether God is still leading us. We might even feel disappointed because we have prayed, worked hard, and done our best, yet the results are not what we hoped for.
Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not depend only on our own understanding. This does not mean that we will always understand God's plans or that every difficult situation will immediately make sense. Instead, it reminds us that we can trust Him even when we cannot see the whole picture.
Sometimes, we become so focused on reaching a particular destination that we forget God can work in the journey itself. Unexpected changes may teach us patience, strengthen our faith, or help us discover opportunities we had never considered. Although we may not understand the reason for every disappointment, we can continue to seek God's guidance and trust in His wisdom.
The Bible is filled with people whose lives did not unfold as they expected. Their experiences remind us that uncertainty does not mean God has abandoned us. Even when the road ahead seems unclear, we can continue walking with Him one step at a time.
If something in your life has not gone according to plan, give yourself time to process your feelings, and bring your questions to God in prayer. You do not have to understand everything today.
Remember that your plans may change, but God's love for you does not. You may not know what the next chapter holds, but you can face it with faith, knowing that you do not have to walk through it alone.
